How to solve the error code with my Microsoft Basic Display Adapter

Hi,

I have a PC, using the Windows 11 OS. I'm not sure if this is an issue, but when I go into device manager > display adapters my Microsoft Basic Display Adapter comes up with an error code.

It reads like this:

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

The driver trying to start is not the same as the driver for the POSTed display adapter.

I'm not sure what this means, if it's going to have an adverse impact on my PC, and what to do about it. Whenever I've searched for info online, it says that I don't have my graphics drivers installed, but right below the error code it says I have an 'NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070' with no issues.

What can I do?

Hi, good day! I'm Jerico T., I understand that you're having some issues right now, I'll do my best to help you with your concern.

Is the computer running perfectly fine? Is this a desktop or a laptop computer?

Microsoft Basic Display Adapter is the basic graphics driver of your windows computer when external graphics card is not currently in use.

Please check for updates on your windows computer by following the steps below

    1. Open the windows settings by pressing the Windows Key + I at the same time
    2. On the left-hand side panel, click on Windows Updates
    3. Click on the button Check for Updates
    4. Wait until windows fetch available updates for your computer and click install

Restart the computer once done and check if the same issue appears.

If you may also run a scan on your windows computer to check for any corrupted system files and the scan will attempt to fix the issue

Perform SFC Scan and Repair Windows Image

-This process will perform scan for any corrupted system files or integrity violation and will attempt to repair it along with the Windows Image.

    1. Open command prompt (Run as administrator)
    2. Type each command below and press enter, wait until scan is completed.

    sfc /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Quick note: Please be patient, it's expected to see the process stuck at 20 or 40 percent. After a few minutes, the process will complete successfully.

    1. Close the command prompt.

Feel free to reach back if you need any further assistance.

Hope this help. Have a good day.

    Thank you,

    Jerico T.
