Hi,
So I believe I fixed the issue by reinstalling Windows completely. Reinstalling the 23H2 version did not work so I straight up reinstalled Windows and now it seems the issues are not coming up anymore. Might be temporary I don't know if it will last. Hopefully that's fully fixed, so thank you a lot!
[FIXED] Memory Issues - How to solve?
Hi,
For a few weeks now (nearly a month) on my ideapad 5 14ARE05 laptop on Windows 11, I've been having some issues that I believe may be linked to some memory issues. Here's what I'm experiencing:
- Flickering screen or screen stopping to render (Black screen with only mouse working but not every time)
- Blue light filter deactivation
- Some icons on the taskbar with random y position within the bar (Like it sometimes decenter vertically) or fusing icons (see images below)
- Randomly crashing applications when too many apps are opened
- Running most game will crash it and some other random app
- Chrome tabs sometimes have the "Out of memory" error
- Memory usage never seen to 100% but suspiciously high when few apps are opened
- Each time I'm trying to diagnose my computer, either the app crashed when diagnosing memory (Lenovo diagnostic tool for example) or it won't show any memory errors (Windows memtest)
I believe all these issues may be related to a memory issue but I'm not completely sure since Windows memory test didn't yield any memory errors. I also encounter none of those issues when I have very few apps opened (like only Discord and Chrome for example, but if I try to launch a game, it will trigger randomly some of the issues I talked about).
I also have a dual boot with Arch Linux and have never encountered a memory issue while using it, however it may be that I don't use enough memory to trigger the issues, I mostly use Firefox and vscode on it and never launched any game.
Here are my specs:
- AMD Ryzen™ 5 4500U Processor
- AMD Radeon™ Graphics
- 16GB DDR4 3200 RAM
- 512GB PCIe TLC SSD
- Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 2x2 AX; Bluetooth® 5.0 or above
I've tried to run SFC /scannow and I did have some corrupted files (some driver files) but it's fixed and I'm still experiencing the issue.
Also tried to update all my drivers which I did, but still nothing changed.

I've tried to look into the Windows Event viewer to check the details of the Windows memtest, but it was just written that no memory errors were found.

I hope I was clear enough with my problem, just in case I've included a video and images of the taskbar glitch which is the only one I've been able to record. If anyone has any idea on how to fix this, I'll gladly try it. Thanks.

2024-05-18T11:38:46+00:00 Hi,
I've already tried updating my drivers and it didn't fix the issues. My most recent Windows update is from the 4th of February this year for version 23H2 which is not when my issues first appeared (it was in late april, around the 20th). Since then, I only got some patches from Windows updates and not any major update. Though I did get an update the 20th of april that's named "Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 for and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 23H2 for x64 systems (KB5036620)" (translated from french). So it may or may not come from that patch, not sure how to test it.
Also tried to run memtest86+ in bios and I passed every tests. Ran some memory diagnostic tools on my Arch linux dual boot and it didn't find anything. So it might be related to some weird Windows stuff.
Thanks

2024-05-18T03:16:18+00:00 Hello SpokLoo! My name is Undra and I am an independent advisor. From the description of your problems, I recommend you to try a few things.
- Update your graphics card. Windows by default will install basic drivers for your graphics card through Windows update. However, I recommend you got to the manufacturer of your computer to obtain the most up to date drivers. For example, if you are using an HP computer then you would need to go to HP’s website where you can specify the make and model of your machine. Then you would be able to see all available drivers for that machine.
- If updating to the latest graphics card does not resolve the issues, then I recommend to investigate your most recent Windows updates. If the issues have been occurring since a previous Windows Update, you can try rolling back or uninstalling the update.
I hope this helps.
