Is OneDrive Silent Sign-on and On Demand Files supported in on prem RemoteApps

I have been asked to enable OneDrive silent sign on for on-prem RemoteApp and am unsure if this is supported. I have applied GPOs on and RDS host and have installed OneDrive per machine and have verified that silent sign on works in a norma rds session. I am testing using 2019 GPOs on a 2016 RDS host and my domain functional level is 2016.
When I test from within a RemoteApp I do not sign on silently to my OneDrive account unless I first connect to a normal RDS session on the host before trying in the RemoteApp.
OneDrive sync client is inconsistent as well.
