How to access advanced startup troubleshoot options

Hello, so last night I believe I got a virus on my computer as my computer shut off and I got a blue screen saying something along the lines of CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED.

I then went into the advanced startup menu in an attempt to repair the issue but when I went to go to any of the troubleshoot options (command prompt, restart, restore…) I had to login to my account. I used my normal password and it kept saying incorrect so I changed it and it continues to say it was incorrect.

I am not sure if the virus has somehow taken over my account and is preventing me from logging into the advanced startup menu options but everything I have been trying is not working.

I then tried to fully wipe the drive and restart the computer but it kept telling me after around 5-10 minutes that the restart cannot be performed.

I desperately need help with this issue, I do not mind fully wiping my drive, I just need to restore windows one way or another.

On a HP device, insert the USB, then start your device, on the HP logo screen, repeatedly press the Esc key and on the resulting menu, press F9 and you should be able to boot from the USB.

Hi Dave, I appreciate your response.

I created a usb drive with windows downloaded on it but I am having trouble changing the boot order in the BIOS menu.

This is what my startup menu looks like, where would I change stuff so that my usb drive can be used to recover windows?

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

If you log into Windows with a Microsoft Account, there is a known problem where the password will not work in the Recovery Environment.

You will need to create a bootable Windows 10 USB on another working PC and boot your PC from that, then rather than installing Windows 10, select ‘Repair this Computer’ that will give you access to the Recovery Environment from there

In the Recovery Environment on the USB, try each option, you will not be blocked by a password.

    Click this link:

to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can download the latest Windows 10 ISO (Select Create Installation Media for Another PC), you can create a bootable USB flash drive (min 8GB) using that tool

Then, Boot your PC from the Installation Media you just created (change Boot Order in your BIOS)
