DWM Keeps Crashing My PC

Over the past week I've been experiencing a lot of crashes on my PC.

After a lot of checking the common thing to keep appearing is DWM crashing. This mainly happens when playing a game. I'll load into any game and within a couple of minutes my PC will completely lock up. I cannot bring up task manager, windows, or anything. My monitors will freeze on whatever is on screen, and I will continue to hear audio for a minute before that stops too. The only way I can resolve the issue is by pressing the reset button or holding the power button.

This is the latest report I have had:

I've done multiple malware searches, and all of them are clean.

I've tried a full clean boot, but again a couple of minutes into a game my PC freezes.

All drivers are updated, including Windows updates.

Temps are fine, CPU and Memory usage is fine.

I've tried disabling XMP.

I'm starting to loose out hope of finding a resolution to this, and really need some help and support resolving this.

I've tried with the latest drivers and the previous two and still had the issue.

I did find on another forum someone suggest reseating the GPU which I've done, and so far this appears to have possibly resolved the issue.

I've been able to Dead by Daylight for the last 45mins and not had a crash, so with some luck that was the fix

Okay, completely remove the current Nvidia device driver using the widely available free DDU utility, then restart your PC and go to the Nvidia website to download and install a slightly older version of the Nvidia device driver.

A slightly older version of that driver is more stable than the latest version.

Hi Dave, I've checked where you suggested, but there are no folders named Minidump

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Please check to see if your PC is producing any minidump files, I will check those to see if they provide any insight into a potential cause of the system crashes.

    Open Windows File Explorer.

    Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump

Copy any minidump files onto your Desktop, then zip those up.

Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox... etc.), then choose to share those and get a share link.

Then post the link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you.
