Issues detecting external monitors with HP Docking Station on windows 11 Laptop

Hi all,

I have a HP monitor (HP E24u G4 FHD USB-C ) and a HP laptop (HP Elitebook 830 G8) that runs on Windows 11. Both my laptop and monitor work perfectly when connected to each other.

I have just bought a HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2. When I connect my HP monitor to my HP docking station, it is not detected. The keyboard and mouse (both non-HP products) are detected. I have updated the drivers but it's still not working.

I'm getting this message when I connect my docking station "display connection might be limited".

Can someone help? This is the 2nd docking station I try (I tried to the Wavlink docking station) and none of them work on my laptop. This is really frustrating!

Thanks.

I fear that i am having the same issue.

Laptop can no longer detect 2nd monitor via HP Thunderbolt Dock G2.

The monitor appears to recognise activation of the DP connection.

Works fine with direct connection to monitor.

Other features of the dock are working well.

This Dock has previously performed perfectly.

Updating HP Drivers has not resolved the issue

    Hi,

I had a similar issue with a HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2 connected to a HP Elitebook 840G5. Externals connected to the docking station get recognised, but the screens not.

I resolved the issue by downloading and installing the Displaylink Graphics driver for the docking station on the Support pages of HP on this link

Hmm ok. It’s time to switch to a Mac I guess. Thanks for your quick reply.

    Hi,

Thank you but I have already followed the instructions on this article and it didn't work at all.

I had the same issue with the Wavlink docking station and I can see other members have had the same issue with other docking stations. I can fairly assume the problem isn't coming from the docking stations.
