My mouse scroll wheel is not working properly

From a few days now I am seeing that my mouse is working fine when I am scrolling it upwards but it doesn't work properly when I scroll down. When I scroll down it sometimes for1 second works fine and all of a sudden stops scrolling, but my wheel scrolls fully. I have tried reinstalling my drivers, restarted it and disconnected and reconnected my wired mouse? I use Logitech G402 mouse and It's been around 1 year since I got the mouse. Even while writing this and submitting this my mouse wasn't scrolling correctly, I had to use my touchpad. Why is it happening?

I have had the same problem for a couple weeks now. I cleaned the mouse, updated the driver, and even switched it out for another. I believe it's a glitch in the Windows 11 software. Hopefully an update will come soon to fix.

YESSS I AM GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING AND THE MOUSE IS NOT THE ISSUE ITS THE DRIVERS!!!!

Let me tell you i went throgh this issue 3-4 months back, at first i thought my mouse is broken but the same issue persisted with other mouses.

SOMEHOW i managed to install windows 8 or 10s 3-4 years old drivers and it worked flawllessly,

UNTILL THE WINDOWS GOT ANOTHER UPDATE AND UPDATED THE DRIVERS!! AND NOW THERE IS NO WAY TO INSTALL OLDER DRIVERS I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING.

If someone knows how can i install older drivers, please let me know. even after i delete my bluetooth drivers from network adapters and a bluetooth devices, i still get the error that i am not allowed to downgrade from current version.

Yeah this week, after a Windows 11 update, my mouse scroll wheel stopped working properly.

It can't be a mechanical problem with the mouse, because there are a couple of websites where mouse scrolling still works perfectly.
Some sites and applications, it works really slowly (just scrolling a couple of lines at a time) and some no scrolling at all.

checked in device manager for my Bluetooth mouse from Microsoft and it states 30/07/2024 a deviceUpdate=false for msmouse.inf, driverDate 06/21/2006 (?) ... it worked before already irritatingly after MS start, but now the wheel scrolling function stopped totally. Very annoying, needing it, would be good getting this function back steadily. Any advices apricated .. dust is not an issue.

Hello , sorry about your problems. My name is Marco and I will do my best to help you.

Dust and debris can accumulate inside the mouse, particularly around the scroll wheel, causing erratic behavior or failure to register movements correctly. Carefully opening the mouse and using compressed air or a microfiber cloth to clean around the scroll wheel might resolve the issue.

Determine if the scrolling issue occurs across all applications or is isolated to specific ones. Some applications have unique scrolling behaviors that might not be indicative of a hardware problem.

You can check this with a clean boot of Windows.

A "clean boot" starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program or mouse in your case.

This is similar to starting Windows in Safe Mode, but allows you to better control which services and programs run during startup to help you isolate the cause of a problem.

Here's how to do it: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-t...
