fn + camera refers to the FUNCTION KEY on your keyboard and the CAMERA key. Most laptops with built in cameras have a key sequence like this to enable/disable the camera. Some, also, have a slider that will cover the lens if you wish to be certain the camera isn't recording. Some also have a BIOS setting to enable/disable the camera.

I have a MOUSE (yes, that's the brand name) camera on my desktop and FWIW, it too stopped working well after the latest updates. For other reasons, 7th corrupted user profile within 6 months, I have formatted and reinstalled Windows 11 23H2 for the 4th time in as many months. And still, today, reboot and the camera doesn't work until I remove the drivers and reinstall them after EVERY reboot. This was NOT the case prior to the 23H2 update.

I am thinking lately that Microsoft has forgotten how to write software. And, in retrospect since the early 90's I am wondering if they ever knew HOW!

I write software for a medical company. If my Team screws up, people DIE. We could NEVER get away with the sort of **** Microsoft is pushing! For this reason and others, we prefer our clients use LINUX (pick your flavor), not Windows!

    Thank you for additional information.

    1. Uninstall then Reinstall Camera driver

Press the Windows key + X then choose Device Manager

Expand Cameras, and locate your camera device

    Right-click then choose Uninstall

Checked on "delete the driver software for this device"

    Then select Uninstall.

    Restart your PC then check.

    1. If the problem persists, go directly to your PC manufacturer's support website and then download and install the camera driver for your device, restart your PC then check.

    Thank you!
