I think that the 2 comments above are very harsh. I have the same issue and have followed the instructions and they are not very clears. In control panel select hardware and sound then click on Device Manager which oviously takes you to the Device Manager list. OK so far. Where do you select update driver software? Do you right click on 'Portable Devices'. Or do you click on the Universal serial bus controllers and try and find the missing "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver". None of this is obvious unless you are aware of what you are doing and are an expert on iPods and iTunes. I get by but nothing here has led me to an answer to my problems.

2024-05-29T15:18:03+00:00 For those trying to install just the Apple mobile device driver, it is available inside the iTunes .exe installer file.
Steps:
- Find and download an iTunes stand-alone installation file (not from the Microsoft Store) - they're available, just search.
- Open the downloaded .exe file with 7-Zip or your fav archive manager - you will see four Windows installer files, one of which is AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi
- Extract and execute AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi to install the driver
Voila!

2024-04-20T03:23:28+00:00 You need to install iTunes for windows Version 12.10
Specifically Version 12.10.11.2 works for me.
This is not the latest version. It is some legacy version that allows you to manage apps on iOS devices.
I already have it downloaded on my computer and just have to unintall and re-install it if it stops working after updates.
link to download from apple https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2065?locale=en_US I don't know why this is so hard.
THANK you. These posts are chock full of boilerplate copy pastes of "have you tried this??????" yes, we've tried the same thing you pasted 700 times across all the different forum posts only to have the person you were "helping" give up because your help was worthless.
Thank god an actual human being was still around on the forums with an actual solution. Tech support people, the lauded "tt2" should be ashamed. If you can't diagnose a problem dynamically, stick to your own PC.
