Hi, GeorgeCojocariu.
Welcome to Microsoft support community.
Thanks for sharing with us, we appreciate your effort of trying to solve the problem by yourself.
Just for your information(although you might already know):
The M.2 form factor, previously referred to as NGFF, is a newer type of expansion card that is internally mounted and replaces the older mSATA standard. Unlike traditional HDDs and SSDs, M.2 drives are directly connected to the motherboard through a dedicated M.2 connector slot instead of using a cable. In your case the M.2 could be identified by the shape of the connect pin.
On the other hand, NVMe standard for a TRNASFER PROTOCAL which utilize M.2 connection usually ; and it is used create high performance SSD drive.
So the M.2 shape does not equal NVMe, below is the rough chart I found in short time just for a reference. The problem on your side might be the connection cable does not compatible with the NVMe standard maybe. And according to : Realtek RTL9210B | OEM Drivers; this controller specifically stated it support NVMe transfer, so the port itself should be fine.
