Is there a way for me to find my lost computer?

I lost my HP laptop recently. I last used it on the 26’th for about 4 hours. In an effort to track my laptop when I realized it was missing, I went to Find My Device on the Windows page. However, when I pressed Find My Device- it showed that my computer was last used on the 25’th instead of the 26’th- and when I tried to refresh the location it said my computer hadn’t been used in 30 days despite this not being true. I don’t know who to contact or what to do. Now, my computer is completely dead and there is no last known location. Is there still a way for me to find my computer?

    Hello, LJ_2383

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I’m sorry to hear about your lost HP laptop. It can be quite stressful to deal with such a situation. Sometimes, the location information may not update immediately. Since you mentioned that the device is now dead, it might not be possible to get a current location. If you suspect that the laptop has been stolen, it’s important to file a report with your local law enforcement. They can use the serial number of your laptop to flag it as stolen, which could help in recovering it if it’s found or turned in.

While HP does not have a service to locate lost or stolen devices, contacting HP Support might provide you with additional options or steps to take next.

Also, let your friends, family, and social networks know about the lost laptop. Sometimes, the device can be found by someone you know or through social media sharing.

The effectiveness of these steps can vary depending on several factors, such as whether the laptop is powered on and connected to the internet. I hope you’re able to recover your laptop soon. If you need further assistance, feel free to ask.

    Hello, Gary Webb

Microsoft 365 allows you to have Office installed on up to 5 devices simultaneously, so if you’re not exceeding this limit, you can simply install it on your new laptop without deactivating it on the old one:

Hi, my laptop was stolen on 21 April. I have filed reports with Queensland Police, and Lost and Found at Brisbane Airport, but no luck. I have tried to Find my Device, and Lock it, numerous times, but 0% battery and not online.

I need to purchase a new laptop. How do l transfer my Microsoft 365 Licence to my new laptop when l purchase it?

    Many thanks

    Gary Webb
