Event ID 7024 at Startup - storage control blocks destroyed

I have started having an Event ID 7024 error at startup. This is the Eventviewer information:

Log Name: System Source: Service Control Manager Date: 4/06/2024 8:43:29 AM Event ID: 7024 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Odin-OneEye Description: The UevAgentService service terminated with the following service-specific error: The storage control blocks were destroyed. Event Xml: http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> 7024 0 2 0 0 0x8080000000000000 21790 System Odin-OneEye UevAgentService %%7 5500650076004100670065006E00740053006500720076006900630065000000

This is followed by a further Event ID 7023 error to do with shared PC. This the Eventviewer information:

Log Name: System

Source: Service Control Manager Date: 4/06/2024 8:45:31 AM Event ID: 7023 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Odin-OneEye Description: The Shared PC Account Manager service terminated with the following error: Catastrophic failure Event Xml: http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> 7023 0 2 0 0 0x8080000000000000 21831 System Odin-OneEye Shared PC Account Manager %%2147549183 73006800700061006D007300760063000000

I am not sure why this has happened or how to fix it. When it first happened there was a cascade of other errors which resulted in system crash. I replaced the GPU driver and now only these two errors remain. I have tried sfc, DISM but have not yet done a clean install. It may be something with the Services settings but I'm not sure what. Can anyone help.

I did a clean install of Windows and the errors still remain. In fact I now have a further recurring error, the Eventviewer details are as follows:

Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-TPM-WMI Date: 7/06/2024 10:17:59 AM Event ID: 1796 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: User: SYSTEM Computer: Odin-OneEye Description: The Secure Boot update failed to update a Secure Boot variable with error Secure Boot is not enabled on this machine.. For more information, please see https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2169931 Event Xml: http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> 1796 0 2 0 0 0x8000000000000000 974 System Odin-OneEye -2147020471

This is now in addition to the two errors related in my original post. I am clearly missing something which is causing these issues.

Definitely a Windows software issue. I did a clean boot with no non Microsoft applications and the error still came up. It looks like I have to clean install.

    Thank you for the reply.

Yes, the User Experience Virtualization service has terminated and will not start when I try to force start in the Services app. I don't know how to repair it. I did chkdsk as you suggested but that did not help. What does it mean the "storage blocks are destroyed"?

I do not have multiple users so I am not sure why Shared PC Account Manager is causing an issue. There are no dependencies listed. As far as I can tell the error manifests not at startup but maybe several minutes later. I don't want to reinstall the system if I can avoid it.

    Hello, deScizz

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Hi, thanks for your feedback, the error you are experiencing seems to be related to a specific Windows service not starting properly.

I did some research and searching for you, let's go through each error one by one:

    1. Event ID 7024 - UevAgentService:

This error indicates that the User Experience Virtualization (UE-V) Agent service terminated due to a service-specific error, "The storage control block has been corrupted". This may indicate that the storage control block associated with the UE-V service is corrupted.

    Potential Solutions:

If you are using the User Experience Virtualization feature, try repairing or reinstalling it.

Check your system for disk errors or corruption using a tool such as CHKDSK.

Check if there are any recent changes or updates that may have caused this issue, and consider rolling back those changes.

Disclaimer: Running chkdsk can check the file system and file system metadata of a volume for logical and physical errors. To avoid any trouble for you, do not cancel or interrupt chkdsk, and back up important data.

More information please refer to this chkdsk | Microsoft Learn.

    1. Event ID 7023 - Shared PC Account Manager:

This error indicates that the Shared PC Account Manager service terminated due to a catastrophic failure. This service is related to shared PC scenarios where multiple users use the same PC.

    Potential Solutions:

Check if there are any recent changes or updates that may have caused this issue, and consider rolling back those changes.

If you are using this feature, try resetting the shared PC settings.

Make sure the necessary dependencies for the Shared PC Account Manager service are running properly.

Since you have already tried running SFC (System File Checker) and DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) without success, and considering that you have already replaced the GPU driver, it may be worth trying a clean install of Windows if the problem persists. However, before resorting to this, if possible, you can also try to restore the system to a point in time before the errors started occurring.

You can refer to the steps below to restore to a restore point:

Use System Restore - Microsoft Support

In addition, closely monitoring the system after boot to see if there are any specific actions or events that trigger these errors may provide further insight into the root cause, and you can continue to provide some information to share here, and I will continue to provide support to you.

    Best regards
