Internet Explorer on Windows 10

Hello,

I did a Repair Reinistall of my Windows 10 a couple of days ago. And for some reasons, Internet Explorer has been running in the background (I saw it in the Task Manager) which it has never been there before. And the app is not listed in my program lists. Is there a way I can delete it from my laptop once and for all? It's taking up disk space and memory in my laptop.

Thank you.

Hello!

My name is David N., and I am a Windows fan and advice people here with Windows questions. I will be happy to assist you with your issue.

There are a number of reasons why IE might be running in the background, but almost none of them cannot work without it. You can also restore it by following the same instructions but reenabling it instead of disabling it, so you should be safe to take it out of the picture.

  1. Choose Start and type "Control". Open Control Panel.
  2. Click on "Programs and features".
  3. On the left, choose "Turn Windows Features On or Off".
  4. Locate "Internet Explorer 11" and uncheck it. Confirm that you want it disabled.
  5. Reboot.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if this resolves your issue or if you require additional assistance.

Regards,

David N.
