Thank you for your response but what i meant is the USB port not the device itself
for example when a USB is inserted a prompt comes out asking for a password before it can be used on the PC ?

Hello,
I'm looking to protect my USB ports with password, so basically whenever a USB disk is plugged in a password is a prompt requiring for a password to further Write/read the flash disk.
Is there a way to so ? or a software to install ?

You can look for USB Block ic softwarei: https://www.newsoftwares.net/usb-block/
Summary: USB Block is a comprehensive solution that prompts for a password whenever an unauthorized USB drive is inserted into your computer. It allows you to create a list of authorized devices, so trusted USB drives can be used without a password prompt. This software is highly recommended for its ease of use and robust security features.
ManageEngine Device Control Plus: https://www.manageengine.com/device-control/
Summary: ManageEngine Device Control Plus offers extensive USB port security by allowing you to configure access based on user roles and groups. Hardware can't be password-protected. Only software can be password-protected.
Hello Malika, my name is Marco and I will do my best to help you.
There are a few third-party software options that can provide this functionality.
EaseUS LockMyFile: https://toolbox.easeus.com/file-lock/
Rohos Mini Drive: https://rohos.com/products/rohos-disk-encryptio...
BitLocker (for Windows Pro and Enterprise users): Although not third-party software, BitLocker is a built-in Windows feature that can encrypt entire USB drives, requiring a password for access.
VeraCrypt: https://www.veracrypt.fr/code/VeraCrypt/
There are several that are offered during a Google search, it's a matter of choosing the one that suits you best.
