In past I could take pictures with laptop camera. Now I cannot get to camera easily. I managed to turn it on through settings. But just to see its hp and on live picture of me. Still can't find how to use it now in general. I need to take some pictures. No phone- just laptop.

To take picture, you can use the Camera app - Type the word "Camera" in the search on the taskbar and see if the app shows up for you to launch.
Once launched, make sure it is set to the camera mode instead of video mode, then click on the camera icon to take photo. Let me know if that is what you are looking for.
