notepad

If I try to use Find (ctrl/F) and click Find next text moves down but no text is highlighted

and no cursor on the screen. If the text being searched is not far from the current cursor position,

the process works fine for a while, but as soon as the next text is a considerable distance away, the problem repeats itself.

I switched to a new local account in Windows and notepad perfectly works.

But what to do with my current account to fix that problem?

Thank you very much for reaching out! As an Independent Advisor and fellow Microsoft user, I'm more than happy to assist you.

Can you try reinstalling Notepad and see if it works?

    1. Open Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
    2. Find Notepad in the list and click on it.
    3. Click Uninstall.
    4. Reinstall Notepad from the Microsoft Store or through the Windows Features.

I have gathered some additional steps for you to try out. Would you mind giving them a shot and let me know if they help?

    Reset Notepad Settings

    • Press Win + I to open Settings.
    • Go to Apps > Installed apps.
    • Find Notepad, click the ellipsis (three dots), and select Advanced options.
    • Scroll down and click Reset. This will reset the app to its default state.

    Repair Notepad

    • Follow the same steps as above to navigate to Notepad's Advanced options.
    • Click Repair. This will attempt to fix any issues without affecting your data.

    Perform a Clean Boot

    • Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    • Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and click Disable all.
    • Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager. Disable all startup items.
    • Restart your computer and check if Notepad works properly.
    • Make sure to revert these changes if it doesn't work by checking Enable all
