How do you use the Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard 1559? No Power Button? No indicator light? No pair button? No manual?

I got a Sculpt 1559 Keyboard and have put three sets of brand new batteries in it. There is no way to know it is on or working. My PC with Windows 10 and laptop with Windows 11 is not detecting it. You can't setup the driver app if it doesn't detect it. This thing doesn't have a manual and the Quick Start Guide doesn't show how to pair. What kind of design work is this? You can't do any diagnostics because you can't even tell if it turns on.

Am I missing something? My bluetooth works fine as I have a devices already connected. Windows is up to date. Drivers are up to date. Do I just assume this keyboard is a dud? This may be the worst designed device I have ever encountered. This isn't even listed in the products section above. There is no Youtube video showing you how to pair. Did Microsoft realize how bad this was and just pretend it doesn't exist?

    Hey Angela,

Not sure if you're still having issues pairing your Sculpt Keyboard but I thought I would share how I got mine to work.

The Sculpt Keyboard and mouse are sold as a set.

    As such,

    1. Insert 2 AAA batteries into the Sculpt Keyboard.
    2. Remove the cover located on the bottom of the mouse and locate the USB dongle.
3 Connect the dongle to your computer's USB port.
Now the keyboard and mouse will both automatically connect to your computer.

    Hope this helps!

The design without a power button or Bluetooth logo makes setting up the keyboard a little tedious, especially if you bought it second-hand like I did.

    Cheers,
    Forest

ok so there is a dongle with the mouse. therefore the keyboard is useless without the dongle. problem solved. it was a waste of 6 dollars. 😥😥😥😪 Useless, but like trudeau it looks good.

I did download it but it doesn't work if it isn't detected. It just says it isnt detected.

It was used so I cannot return it but it was working for the previous owner. I used it and it was fine.

Does this unit really not have a power button and/or pair button? I was hoping I was missing it or it was one of the keys. I cannot get over how poorly designed this is. Engineers should understand the importance of a user needing to know whether they have power or not.

There are many versions of the Sculpt Keyboard, if you turn the keyboard upside down, is there no buttons on the bottom of that keyboard model?

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Download the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center from the link below and see if that can help you connect the keyboard to your system, if not, then it would be best to return that keyboard under warranty to get a free replacement.
