Transfer Sticky Notes Windows 10 to Windows 11

Old PC tower desktop computer with Windows 10 has Sticky Notes I use. New PC tower desktop computer will have Windows 11. How do I transfer Sticky Notes in Windows 10 to Windows 11? On Windows 10 doing Windows key+R, %LocalAppData%Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState - brings me to the file location of the plum.sqlite files.

However, doing that same procedure on a Windows 11 laptop does not yield anything.

How do I find the file location of the plum.sqlite files in Windows 11 so I can copy/paste the Sticky Notes from Windows 10?

Or does one have to Copy/Paste each Sticky Note onto a word document on a Windows 10 computer, transfer that word document onto the Windows 11 computer and then Copy/Paste each note individually one-by-one onto a new Sticky Note?

On Windows 10 doing Windows key+R, %LocalAppData%Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState - brings me to the file location of the plum.sqlite files.

However, doing that same procedure on a Windows 11 laptop does not yield anything.

I tried the same thing and got the same result you did -- nothing.

I found it manually, so it's there: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState

I tried, as you did, to copy the plum.sqlite, then tried copying all the plum.sqlite files. Nothing.

Just for the heck of it, I copied everything that was in the "Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState" folder to the new location (new LocalState folder) -- AND IT WORKED! I have all my notes back!

Fingers crossed it will solve your problem, too. Good luck!

Thanks but no thanks. Not interested in placing my information on a corporate server to be hacked into. Appreciate your efforts.

    Hi Lee_52,

Copying the files, plum.sqlite, plum.sqlite-shm, and plum.sqlite-wal, from Windows 10 to 11 doesn't seem to work.

However, you can sync your notes across devices if you sign in to Sticky Notes using the same account on the other system(s).
