I do not know, but if the Mac version has a Selection Pane, that should assist in selecting the boxes so that the Format controls can be used.

I am using a Mac with office 365 local on my computer. Its new in February so It should be the most updated version as far as I know. I am unable to resize text boxes to show the full view of text that is entered. The document is a .docx it was given to me for a schooling assignment already formatted I just need to enlarge the text boxes. I can't even highlight the text boxes to try to format them individually by adjusting the size manually in the format section.

Hi, @Annie Swincinski
You can try to drag the text box by holding down OPTION or SHIFT.
For details, please refer to this link: change-the-size-of-a-picture-shape-+text-box-or-wordart-in-word
You can also try to format the shape, tick Resize shape based on text. For details, please refer to this link: set-text-direction-and-position-in-a-shape-or-text-box-in-word
Do other Word documents have a similar issue? You can also test change the size of a text box on office online(please use OneDrive to upload files to Office Online)
