Hello, my apologies if this issue is not explicitly Microsoft related. However, I have windows 10 pro and Asus F751M. and just about 3 days ago the touchpad stopped working when i turned the laptop on. Here is everything i tried:

  • Windows update
  • manually updating the device (Labelled Asus Touchpad)
  • Used 3rd party driver updaters
  • uninstalling and deleting the driver from Device Manager

-reset BIOS setting

  • Troubleshooter asked to just restart the device
  • Installed ATK manager and ASUS smart gesture from the official website

The "Asus Touchpad" on Device Manager keeps showing error saying it could not start properly (code 24).

Please help

Hello. I apologize for the late response, i still haven't a solution for the issue, i have tried updating and downgrading the driver but it not work.

I have also tried inserting a windows installation CD and reboot into installation mode but the touchpad still did not work there. I cannot think it could be hardware because i haven't done anything that could harm the laptop like dropping it or spilling water etc..

Even if it's a hardware problem, it wouldn't be listed in the device manager am i correct? Even as an error

Thank you for letting me know. Good morning!

I see from the screenshot that the driver "Asus Support Device" is showing an error. Let's try reinstalling it first.

    > Right-click the Start and select "Device Manager."

    > Expand Mice and other pointing devices. Right-click the Asus Support Device and select "Update driver."

    > Click "Browse my computer for drivers."

    > Click "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer."

    > Click the driver listed under Model. Click "Next" to install and click "Close.”

After completing these steps, check if the issue persists. You can also restart your PC and check again.

If the issue persists, please let me know.

I didn't do any updates or installed any programs. It's a work laptop i only use it for Microsoft products I never installed anything out of the ordinary. The auto-update was off so when the issue first started i tried installing all the updates and nothing worked.

The device is under the mouse category and it only shows when i enable "Show hidden devices".

sorry my computer is in French. Here is the image you asked for:

It used to be labelled "Asus Touchpad", i'm not sure why it is "Asus Support Device" now.

Hi Amine, I am John J.D., a fellow Microsoft user like you.

Thank you for sharing the troubleshooting steps you've already taken. I understand you're experiencing issues with your touchpad not working on your Windows 10 laptop, and I'm here to help.

Could you please provide a screenshot of the Device Manager? Specifically, expand the "Human Interface Devices" section, right-click on "ASUS Precision Touchpad," select "Properties," and capture that screen. Please attach the screenshot in your next response.

Also, it would be helpful to know when this issue first started and if any recent changes or updates were made to your system before the touchpad stopped working.

Any additional information you can provide will be helpful in diagnosing and resolving the issue.

    John J.D.
