I have a Lenovo slim 7i - 14inch. I had it connected to my monitor via a type C to HDMI cable. It was working fine for over 2 years until now. All of a sudden, the laptop stopped recognizing the monitor. The after troubleshooting a little, it started to give the error "Power surge on the USB port - USB disabled"
I tried updating drivers, updating BIOS, even re installed the windows, but nothing changed. The port itself works, as it charges the laptop. Please help

So, I bought a usb dock with its own power supply. This has solved my problem. Now I can charge my laptop with the doc and plug all the devices into doc.

My suspicion is that one of the recent windows updates may have caused the usb to disable itself if it detects a certain level of power.

Hello there! I am Charity, I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

I'm glad to help you today!

Since you have tried almost all troubleshooting steps, let's try disabling USB Selective Suspend Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings. Expand USB settings > USB selective suspend setting, and set it to Disabled.

If issues still persist, this could most likely be a hardware issue. Does the issue still persist even when on battery? or does it make any difference at all? Have you also tried cleaning all the USB ports on your Lenovo slim 7i?

Hello, I have a similar problem, having the same error message. However, in my case Lenovo 7 laptop stopped charging fully and now it is dead without power. Is there any way to fix this?
