Hello!
Corruption of computer files such as the BIOS/UEFI firmware or Windows components is common and can happen for a long list of reasons. Most of the time it is not possible to trace the cause. A common cause is a tiny spike or dip in power going into the computer so fast that only a computer would notice, causing it to glitch. Most grid power is "dirty", meaning that there are tiny spikes and dips all the time that are so fast that most electronics never notice, but on occasion they can cause crashes. Since there is nothing monitoring the power at this fine of level there is no way to tell if this happened.
Having this fixed by a technician is probably the best way to go. While this might be a BIOS/firmware issue, it is more likely that the motherboard or some other component has failed outright and needs to be replaced.
I hope the repairs go well.

David N.
