Some keys not working on Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard

Recently several keys stopped working on my Microsoft Sculpt keyboard. The affected keys are grouped together which makes me think it might be a hardware problem but thought it would be good to check in case there is another solution.

The affected keys are r, f, g, v and b. All other keys work fine.

I have tried the keyboard on 2 pcs, one with windows 10 and one with windows 11 with the same outcome on each.

While I love the keyboard as it is so comfortable to use this is the 3rd time I have encountered the same issue with this keyboard so I'm beginning to think it's a flaw. The first keyboard was under warranty so was replaced but the new one failed within a couple of years. My company then purchased another new one for me but it's now just over 2 years old and I am facing the same issue.

Can you advise whether there might be any solution other than buying a new keyboard?

    Hi Hahn,

Thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I have tried blowing air and brushing the area gently without success. And even more unfortunately I believe it is just out of warranty though will double check - only just over 2 years old which seems a very short lifespan for such an expensive keyboard.

Disappointingly this is the 3rd sculpt keyboard that has failed in the same way for me. It's such a shame because I really love the keyboard, it's the most comfortable I have ever used. Looks like I will have to give up on this model and look for another that is more sturdy

    Thanks again for the advice

    Regards

    Angela

    Hi Angela,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

Based on the information you have provided; it seems that the issue with your Microsoft Sculpt keyboard is most likely a hardware problem. Since you have already tried the keyboard on two different computers and the same keys are not working, it is unlikely that the issue is related to software or drivers.

You could try cleaning the affected keys and the surrounding area with compressed air or a soft brush to see if that helps. However, if the issue persists, it is likely that the keyboard will need to be replaced.

    Your Sincerely
