TV won't connect as Wireless Display on a W10 Machine

Im having an issue with a Windows 10 Desktop pc. I’ve configured it to a LG TV webOS 8.3.1 and it was working perfectly as a Wireless Display in extend mode. The thing is that it suddenly stopped working. I’ve tried sfc scannow, DISM, resetting network connection (by windows network settings panel), but nothing seems to work.

What happens is: the TV take a little bit to show up on Windows + K (Same as going Windows + P > Connect to a Wireless Display) and when it shows up and i click to connect to it, it does the loading animation and then says “Couldn’t Connect” but on another Windows 10 pc, it connects perfectly.

I’ve also tried: Restarting the router Changing TV device name Removing the device from the PC I saw something about editing a GPO but when i searched for the gpo (gpedit.msc > Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings) there was no “Wireless Network (IEEE 802.11) Policies” item to check. Also disabled Firewall, Updated Windows, added WUDFHost.exe to the firewall as some guides said and the only antivirus on the system is Windows Defender, which i have also disabled to test. Using the same Wi-Fi dongle from the pc with issue to the one that works, and after that it still works normally on the pc that is working so the issue could certainly be something in Windows

Just some extra notes: All of the computers and the TV are on the same network and connected to the internet correctly Windows display (GPU) drivers are all updated. I’ve restarted everything. It was working before and stopped suddenly.

And again, on another W10 device it works perfectly (and finds the device much faster than the pc with the issue) Both PCs using W10 22H2 Pro

Any suggestions?

Already did all of that, here are some other infos/things I've tried later:

    • Checked all the Microsoft Support issues i could like mine (and other platforms)
    • Deleted the TV device's block list
    • Reset the TV
    • Changed PC name
    • Reset PC network (multiple times) thru settings and cmd
    • Reinstalled GPU drivers as factory settings (to most updated version)
    • Reinstalled Wi-Fi driver (to most updated version, and also tried with the one that windows installs automatically)
    • Changed Wi-Fi dongle USB port
    • Checked for any possible interference
    • Checked compatibility of the device with Wireless Display (netsh wlan show drivers > Graphics Driver: Yes, Wi-Fi driver: Yes)
    • Since the PC uses AMD GPU, I've added and set the register value DalWirelessDisplaySupport to 1
    • The network is in Private mode, every discovery is enabled (and media sharing also), the device can find other devices on the network and even send media like YouTube to the TV without any trouble (because the app is present on the TV)
    • Windows is up to date as i said on the original post
    • The TV Miracast driver pops up really fast in device manager while trying to connect but after that it just gives the "Couldn't Connect" message, and there is a TV device in Miracast hidden devices at device manager.
    • Right clicking the Miracast device in device manager just shows Error 45 (device not connected)
    • Removed all instances of the TV from "Devices" (settings panel and control panel)
    • All the devices are in 2.4GHz network (but that wouldn't be a big issue since i've tried with the same wifi dongle on another W10 PC so if the network is unified 2.4GHz with 5GHz it would give me an error with the wifi dongle since it can only reach 2.4GHz networks, but on the other pc with same dongle it worked..)
    • I've tried with Firewall disabled just to make sure it wasn't an issue with Firewall
    • Already reinstalled the Wireless Display feature
    • Checked about power saving features related to Wi-Fi driver but everything was ok, Windows could not shut down the driver and the Wi-Fi driver itself had some power saving features which i have also disabled

    Hello nexo33,

Now that you've tried so many configurations, this is generally a temporary problem that should resolve itself, so please try a few more times.

If the problem persists, please remove and re-add the Wireless Display feature in Settings.

I hope you get it resolved.

    Have a good day.

    Best Regards,

    Liam - MSFT

    Hello nexo33,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

It seems that you are having an issue about TV not connecting as Wireless Display. That is very annoying. I will do my best to help you. Here are some of my suggestions:

    1. Find the network settings - make sure the network is Private.
    2. Go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Media streaming options in Control Panel, and turn on media streaming, etc.
    3. Remove all three-party firewall programs from your computer.
    4. Make sure the both the devices are connected with the same network. Sometimes if a device is connected with 5Ghz and other with 2.4Ghz, it might give a problem. And configure your Wi-Fi local network in your router.
    5. In the TV as well, try reconfiguring the network again.
    6. You can press WIN+X to access the Device Manager. Find the Wi-Fi driver, right click - update the Wi-Fi driver to the latest version - restart your Windows computer. Press the Windows key and type in "Allow an app through Windows Firewall" and press enter.
Scroll down and look for "Cast to device functionality", "Connect" & "Connected Devices Platform" and check the box "Private & Public".
      Click Ok.
      Restart your computer.
    7. Update the latest version of the AX201 NIC driver from INTEL website. Windows® 10 and Windows 11* Wi-Fi Drivers for Intel® Wireless Adapters Disclaimer: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate and safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.
    8. Go to Settings - System - Options - find the Wireless Display feature - uninstall it - add it again in the New Options - add this feature.
    9. Also, refer to Troubleshooting Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter - Microsoft Support for troubleshooting.

    Hope it helps.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

    Best Regards,

    Liam - MSFT
