I have a problem with my PC, maybe you can help me, I have 68-80 degrees in games, I have 68-80 degrees on the processor and suddenly 206 degrees appear on the cores and it lasts like this for a few seconds and drops back to the normal temperature and I changed the thermal paste today, I changed it and I checked the cooler if I put it right and it's ok and I wonder if anyone knows how to solve it,it's a strange problem, I haven't found a problem similar to mine anywhere, other people simply have a constant high temperature, but mine is not constant, it lasts for a few seconds in competitive games, it really affects me, it just does this in the background, I don't have applications that are there and let's say that because of that they use too much of the processor and overload it, i use about 60-70% of the processor

    Dear Alex,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the overheating issue you're experiencing with your PC while gaming. I understand the concern this brings, especially when it appears to fluctuate unexpectedly.

Based on the information provided, it seems you've already taken proactive steps by replacing the thermal paste and ensuring the proper installation of the cooler. However, the sudden spikes in temperature, particularly up to 206 degrees on the cores, remain a cause for concern.

To further assist you in resolving this issue, I recommend exploring a few additional troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check System Resources: While you mention that you're not running applications that typically strain the processor, it's still advisable to monitor system resource usage during gameplay. This can help identify any unexpected background processes or applications that may be contributing to the temperature spikes.
    2. Update Drivers and Firmware: Ensure that your graphics card drivers, motherboard BIOS, and other system drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can lead to compatibility issues or inefficient performance, which may result in temperature fluctuations.
    3. Inspect Cooling System: Double-check the airflow within your PC case and ensure that all fans are functioning properly. Dust buildup can obstruct airflow and cause overheating. Consider cleaning out any dust accumulation from your PC components and ensuring adequate ventilation.
    4. Consider Undervolting or Underclocking: If temperature spikes persist despite the above measures, you may explore options such as undervolting your CPU or GPU or underclocking them slightly. These techniques can help reduce power consumption and heat output without significantly impacting performance.

If the issue persists after attempting these troubleshooting steps, I recommend consulting with a qualified technician for further assistance. They can offer personalized guidance and potentially arrange for a thorough hardware inspection if necessary.

I understand the importance of addressing this issue promptly to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your PC hardware. Please keep us updated on your progress, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Best Regards,

Martin | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
