Phone Link stops updating messages/conversations

Hello,

I've been having trouble with my Phone Link, specifically the text messages part of the App.

The messages tab will stop updating all conversations. If your notifications are set up to show text messages, you can usually see what people send you there, but you cannot really track what people are saying past that or if they are even receiving your messages.

Resetting the device connection seemingly makes the Messages Tab work for a day or two, and the conversations are updated before it eventually stops again. I go to Settings > Devices > and remove the device before re-adding it. But as I said it will stop working again and you will have to repeat the process again if you want to do any texting from Phone Link.

I've spoken to a few others who have had this issue and I've browsed some of the forums, but haven't found a solution.

In the past month since this started occurring I haven't personally changed any of my phone's or my PC's Windows settings, and all three are currently up to date.

Phone: Samsung S10e, Android Version 12

PC: Windows 10
Phone Link Version: 1.24061.93.0

I have been experiencing this same problem. Galaxy S23+, Windows 11. Starting around July 19th, my messages just won't update. I SEE the message notifications in the left pane of Phone Link, but I don't see them reflected in the right pane, no matter how much refreshing I do. I am able to SEND messages from Phone Link, but again, they don't show up in the right messages pane.

I followed this step: "In the Start Menu ("All Apps" section only) you can right click on the Phone Link app and select 'MORE> App Settings'. That will get you to the advanced setting for the Phone Link app." Then I clicked on repair and then reset, and now things are working again.

I've been having the same problem since "sometime" in mid July...

    Maybe this will help:

If I type a message in Phone Link, the message goes to my phone, and as soon as it is sent, it is deleted from Phone Link.

If I send a message using my phone, Phone Link has no record of it.

If someone sends me a message, it doesn't show up in messages in Phone Link.

My eyes are old, I hate typing on my phone, so I have been using Phone Link for at least 3 years:

My PC is running Windows 10

First Phone - Samsung S21 - Never had a problem

Current Phone - Samsung S22 - Never had a problem until the recent Phone Link update

I am running Phone Link version 1.24062.101.0

In the recent update, I was forced to link my MS Partner account to my phone. I never had a problem before that...

As a former Microsoft Certified Partner, and a Software Engineer, I feel confident in saying, this bug was introduced when we were required to register our phones with Microsoft to use the App. Maybe it has to do with that.

    I should add:

    In PC menu

    right click "Phone Link"

    click "More"

    Click "App Settings"

    Under "Reset," Click "Reset" button

Does work, but it will stop working after a few days.

Also, while on the same network, my phone is connected via Wi-Fi, my computer is hard wired. Wi-Fi on the computer is turned off.

I'd gladly move to Samsung DeX, but it's difficult to copy and past text messages, if Phone Link would work, it's easier to use.

Microsoft should make this bug fix top priority, because it's there since months.

Also why can't the My Phone app be connected to 2 computers simultaneously at the same time and update the content accordingly?

One additional note. I also noticed that the System Notifications for Phone Link app (and the entire group of sub notifications) also stop when this error occurs. There must be some sort of link.
