Hi, I'm setting up a new PC and trying to log in with a preexisting Microsoft account. As I log in it accepts my Microsoft password but then askes for a "Current Windows Password". I have no idea what this password is and everywhere I try to reset my passwords on my old pc it doesn't change this "Current Windows Password"

    Hello, this is Emily.

Are you in the process of turning your local account to your Microsoft account?

If so, are you stuck at the step where it asks for "Windows" password? If so, this is NOT your Microsoft account password, but your local account's password. The password you currently use to sign into your computer.

If your local account doesn't have a password, use this instruction to set up one:

Hold down Ctrl + Alt + Del, click on "Change password".

For the current password field, leave it blank.

Then set up a new password.

Once set, go back to what you were doing. When prompted for Windows password, use the one you just set up.
