no sound via HDMI connection to TV for viewing/listening on larger screen

I have an HDMI cable from my PC to my TV. Using the TV's input toggles, I can easily view whatever is playing. Once upon a time, you blessed us with an "upgrade," and I lost the ability to receive the audio component through the HDMI cable. Though we still get a great picture, it is an inconvenience to have to rely on the computer's speakers for the sound element. (Yes, I go to "Settings" then to "Sound" and "add a device." There used to be an option for the HDMI cable, but no more. Now it just searches aimlessly for a device to add. Since I am not using a wireless device, it's a futile exercise.)

Hello , sorry about your problems. My name is Marco and I will do my best to help you.

Outdated or corrupted audio drivers can cause HDMI audio issues. Try updating your audio drivers through Device Manager or your PC manufacturer's website.

To do this, right-click on the start button and select "Device Manager".

In Device Manager, expand Sound, video and game controllers.

Right-click on the audio card you want to update and select Update driver.

If that doesn't change anything, right-click and select "uninstall". Restart the computer so Windows will reinstall the drivers automatically.

Run the Windows audio troubleshooter. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound > Troubleshoot common sound problems and select Output devices and/or Input devices.
