Trying to find info on how to completely get rid of windows and load any thing usable on my pc.

And does it void the warranty on a new PC?

Windows 11 is just not usable for many many reasons and terrible support, and all kinds of privacy and security issues with Windows 11 is forcing many of us to opt for a usable OS.

It shouldn't void the warranty. Even if it did, you could take a backup of your current windows setup by using a tool like GParted live then restore it at a later date.

    Dear Owen Humphrey

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

    Regarding your question.

If you need to install something else such as LINUX OS, then you will need to make a USB boot utility, partition the disk appropriately, and then reboot the USB installation in the BIOS.

If you need to install and reinstall WINDOWS 10/11, then you need to make a USB boot utility, partition the disk appropriately and then reboot the USB installation in BIOS.

Then there is now an easier way.

You can login to the following website under your current system.

First of all it is recommended that you backup your important personal data just in case.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

    Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

Select Create Windows 10/11 Installation Media - Download - Execute - Select Accept Terms - Select Make Media Tools for Another Computer - DVD ISO file - Select Save to Desktop - Open WINDOWS.ISO file - Find the Source folder - go to the folder - Run the SETUP.EXE.

It will ask you if you want to get the most recent update - select no - to get the most recent update. Ask for your product key, you can select I don't have a product key - Ask for the version of WINDOWS you need to install - you can follow your needs, then it will ask you to select the disk location for the installation, you can select the current C drive, which is equivalent to reinstalling the WINDOWS system.

Finally, it is recommended that you back up your important data to an external storage medium before performing the above operations just in case, and confirm the space size of the C and D disks, otherwise you may install the wrong disk.

I hope the above information can help you.

    Best Wish

    Hello Owen, this is Emily.

You can perform a clean install directly. During the installation process, you will be asked where to install Windows. On the list of partitions listed at that step, you can delete all partitions until they merge into one unallocated space, then select that space to install your new Windows. This deletion process serves as wiping out everything from the old.

To perform a clean installation of Windows 10 using the Windows Media Creation Tool.

The following steps should be done on a working Windows computer:

Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's official website. https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/win...

Run the tool and select "Create installation media for another PC."

Choose your language, edition, and architecture (32 or 64-bit) and select "Next."

Choose "USB flash drive" as the media to use for the installation and select "Next."

Connect a USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space to your computer.

Select the USB flash drive you want to use, and then select "Next."

The tool will then download the required files and create the installation media.

    =====================================================

Now these steps will  be done on your problematic computer:

Go to the computer's BIOS boot menu to have it boot from the USB drive.

Follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows 10, making sure to choose "Custom install" and select the option to delete all existing partitions.

Once the installation is complete, you'll have a clean installation of Windows 10 on your computer.

When you install the new operating system then use the option to delete everything currently on the disk. As previously suggested it will be best to create a windows boot USB while you still have windows installed using

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com) and select Create Windows 10 Installation media.

Then you can go ahead and boot from the installation media of your preferred OS and delete windows in the process of installing the new OS.
