what can i try next?
bluetooth works great with any other device but not my airpods, reinstalling the driver didnt fix the issue
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.
I understand that you are having trouble connecting your AirPods to your Windows PC.
To isolate the issue, have you tried connecting any other Bluetooth audio device to see if it works normally? If you experience the same issue with all the wireless devices connected, probably the issue could be with the Bluetooth drivers.
Since wired headphones work normally, the audio drivers are working properly.
Also, please check the Audio output on your device - Ensure Airpods are selected.
a. Go to settings > Start > System > Sounds > Output > Ensure Airpods selected. Test the system audio output. If it doesn't work, update or re-install the Bluetooth drivers and check if it helps.
Before re-installing the drivers, go to Bluetooth settings and select "Forgot this device" next to Airpods. Then,
a. Go to Device Manager.
b. Expand the arrow next to Bluetooth Drivers.
c. Right-click your generic Bluetooth drivers (Not your AirPods driver), select Update driver, then select Search automatically for drivers. Follow the instructions to complete the update.
If Windows doesn't find a new driver, Uninstall the drivers.
Right-click your generic Bluetooth driver, select Uninstall device, select the Attempt to remove the driver for this device check box, and then select Uninstall.
d.Once uninstalled, restart your PC. The Drivers will be installed during the restart.
e. Connect your AirPods via Bluetooth and test the audio output.
I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.
