How Do I Fix Unknown Driver in Device Manager?

I am having an issue running games on my newly built pc and I believe it is something to do with this driver.

The Hardware IDS are:

ACPI\VEN_INTC&DEV_1085

ACPI\INTC1085

*INTC1085

Could this be due to an external USB ?

Hi Cayden! Thanks for staying in touch. In this situation, if the processes I've shared with you haven't worked, it might be necessary to look for a more recent or older version of the driver with which you are experiencing issues. You can find a list in the Microsoft Update Catalog that I am sharing with you: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search...

On the other hand, you can also use the driver version from the following Intel forum article as a reference: https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/Unkno...

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

As a recommendation, I would also suggest checking for other related updates from your PC manufacturer, either in the latest versions for Intel or, as I previously mentioned, an older version of the same driver.

I hope the information shared is helpful. Regards

Hi David, Thanks for the reply.

All of the things you've listed I have tried and they aren't working. Is there anything thing else you think I should try?

Hi Cayden! My name is David. I am a user of Microsoft products like you, and it is a pleasure to greet you.

Based on the Hardware IDs you've provided (ACPI\VEN_INTC&DEV_1085, ACPI\INTC1085, *INTC1085), it seems that the driver in question is related to Intel hardware, potentially a chipset or management engine component. This issue is unlikely to be related to an external USB device.

To handle this issue, please follow these steps:

    1. Go to the support section of Intel's website. You can use the Intel Driver & Support Assistant (Intel DSA) to automatically detect and update the drivers necessary for your system.
    2. Manually Install the Driver:
    • Open Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start Menu).
    • Right-click on the unknown device and select 'Update driver'.
    • Choose 'Search automatically for updated driver software'. Windows will search online for the appropriate driver and install it.
    1. Sometimes, missing drivers can be provided through Windows Update. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and click 'Check for updates'.

Let me know if the shared information has been helpful. Regards.
