Random BSOD with VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE and nvlddmkm.sys error

About 3 days ago, I updated my NVidia graphics drivers through GeForce experience to 556.12. The next day I started having BSOD issues with the nvlddmkm.sys error. I searched the forums and decided to uninstall the current drivers and reinstall the previous ones from before I updated (555.99) from the NVidia website which worked for the day I was using my computer. However, since yesterday the computer started to randomly bsod again with the same nvlddmkm.sys error but now it was more inconsistent. I could boot the computer and it would bsod within 5 minutes or It'll just work completely fine and I could play games like Quaver and Black Ops 3 perfectly fine.

I've had my computer for a long time, I know its an old machine but I can't even remember the last time my computer had a bsod, it must've been at least over 3 years ago. My current graphics card is a 1050ti.

Just before posting this it bsod again. Can anyone help me?

Sorry for the delay in reply. I've been offline.

My suspicion is that there was a problem during the update that corrupted the driver or another Nvidia file. That's why I suggested a clean install of the driver.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

Your minidumps only mention the Nvidia driver "nvlddmkm.sys". No other driver is mentioned.

I suggest performing a clean install of the Nvidia driver as instructed below.

Download the latest driver for your graphics card from the Nvidia website. Then, use the free DDU tool to remove the current driver. Then, install the latest driver using the installer you downloaded.

(I suggest disconnecting from the internet during the entire procedure.)

    DDU: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-dr...

    Nvidia driver download: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.a...

Run the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.

Do not use GeForce Experience to reinstall the driver. Use the installer suggested above.

See if the system will work stable after this.

If the BSOD occurs again after doing this, share the minidump created by it. Click on the "Reply" button below my reply.

If you need a tutorial for using DDU, I recommend the video below.

Thanks for the support. Followed all the steps and performed a clean installation of the latest version of the Nvidia drivers.
I'll use the system as normal and let you know if any BSOD occurs.

I'd like to ask why there was a nvlddmkm.sys error, as I've not had it occur prior to updating my drivers through GeForce Experience, and I've always used GeForce Experience to updating my drivers whenever possible. I haven't had this happen before until 3 days ago which I find strange as to why it happened now.
