How do I get my Samsung phone to connect to my pc?

Hello:

I have a Win10 pc, and I just got a new Samsung A25 phone.

I plugged in my USB cable to move some photos off my phone onto my pc, but it isn't connecting. Nothing shows a connection on my computer, and I can't find anything on the phone that has to do with connecting to a computer.

The only thing I find is that "Link" app, which does not work. It keeps asking me for some kind of "HELLO" password. I've never had this show up before. And my pc states that this "HELLO" feature is unavailable.

So, how do I link my Samsung phone to my pc?

Thanks

KP75075, thank you for the reply.

Did you select the View > Hidden items check box on the file explorer window?

By default, the App Data folder will be hidden. Unhiding the folder will display them on the explorer.

If that didn't work, could you please go to Accounts> Sign in options > Do you have Password (Sign in with your account's password) > Add?

(or) In Settings > Accounts > Your info > Ensure you have signed in with your Microsoft account, not a local account.

If you see 'Sign in with your Microsoft account instead'. Click that and sign in. This will remove the error that says 'Windows Hello PIN' is currently unavailable.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N

    Hello KP75075,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.

I understand that you are trying to move your Photos from your Samsung device to your Windows 10 PC. However, you are having trouble connecting your mobile device to your computer.

The computer will only show up your Samsung Phone when you accept the prompt from the Samsung mobile device first. So, ensure you have enabled 'USB debugging' option in the Samsung device.

You can find this option in your Samsung mobile device settings > Scroll down and select About phone > Software information > Build number > Tap the build number option 6-7 times to enable developer options. In settings > Scroll down > In developer options, ensure to enable the USB debugging option.

Once enabled, connect your mobile device to your computer and see if you get any notification on the mobile device to transfer files between your device.

Regarding the Windows Hello feature which says 'Unavailable' is due to a software error.

Delete the NGC folder and add a new PIN code:

    a. Open Windows Explorer.

    b. navigate to the following path: (make sure to select view > hidden items checkbox)

    C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC.

    c. Open the NGC folder and delete all the contents to empty the folder.

    d. Now, go to settings > Sign-in options to see if you can set up a PIN.

In addition, make sure you have installed all the latest updates for your PC. Also, ensure you have the latest version of the Phone link app installed from the Microsoft store.

I followed the link for the NGC folder, but this is as far as I got with it........

    Image

There is no "AppData" folder in here.

And I don't want a PIN number. I've never had one before, and I don't want one now.

Everything is up to date as far as the pc is concerned. There are no outstanding updates or patches that I can find that haven't been installed.
