Hello, the types of files i am trying to play are just regular mp3's and mp4's.
Media player will not play files
I can open files in media player but when it try's to play the files it is stuck at 0 seconds. i can move the progress bar around but it stays there and wont play the files. I have troubleshooter this more than once and I also had already had all the extra codecs installed. The weirdest part of the situation is that certain short periods of times it works and it seems to stop after.

I understand your frustration and I'm here to help. Have you noticed if the issue happens with a particular file format, like MP3?
What troubleshooting steps have you already taken? Have you tried repairing and resetting the Media Player app?
If you haven’t tried it yet, please follow these steps:
> Press the Windows + I key to open Settings.
> Click on the "Apps". > Click on "Installed apps."
> Scroll through the app list or use the search bar to locate the Media Player.
> Click the three-dots menu (...) next to Media Player and select "Advanced options."
> Scroll down to the Reset section, and click on "Repair." Wait for a moment, then check if it’s working.
> If the issue persists, go back to the same settings, scroll down to the Reset section, and click on "Reset" (confirm the action if prompted).
> Restart your PC and test.
If issue persists please let me know by clicking "Reply" below and provide more details by answering my questions.
Let's work together to resolve the issue.

Let's continue troubleshooting this together.
Please run Windows Media Player troubleshooting using the Get Help app:
> Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshooters.
> Next to Windows Media Player, click "Run".
> This will open the Get Help app. Please give the troubleshooter time to load. This step is purely automatic, you just need to follow the prompts.
> Click "Yes" to continue. This will allow the troubleshooter to check and automatically run diagnostics. Please wait for the steps to finish and then test playing music.
If the issue persists, please let me know.

John Jefferson Doyon 65,980 Reputation points Independent Advisor2024-07-25T22:48:06+00:00 Thank you Kevin, for trying those steps and letting me know.
Can you provide more details on which music file types are having issues and what troubleshooting steps you have already taken?
This will help us both find the exact cause, and knowing what troubleshooting steps you have already taken will help me avoid recommending them again.
