    Hi David Kibet,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

In your description, your HP computer's fingerprint sensor is not working and you haven't found a driver for it.

Please download the driver from the link below and install it on your computer to see if you can use fingerprint recognition normally after that.

If the fingerprint recognition still does not work after installing the new driver, please refer to the following steps to try to reset the biometric service

Open the "Services" panel and stop the biometric service.

Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.

    Type services.msc

Select Windows biometric services from the left column

Right-click on it, then select " Stop" from the list that appears

    Open Explorer

    Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\WinBioDatabase

Rename the .DAT file to a .DAT.BAK file.

Open the "Services" panel and start the Biometrics service.

Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.

    Type services.msc

Select Windows biometric services from the left column

Right-click on it, then select " Start" from the list that appears

See if the same problem occurs after the reset.

If the problem still persists, then there may be a hardware failure in your fingerprint sensor, please contact HP support via the link below so that they can perform further checks on your relevant hardware.
