After an update, individual pictures in folders have this icon in the lower left corner.

Why is this? I'm showing 7.83 of 8 gb usable, I don't understand.

Thank you for the information. The discrepancy you're seeing between the total installed RAM (8.0 GB) and the usable RAM (7.83 GB) is typically due to some of the RAM being reserved for hardware, such as integrated graphics, system BIOS, or other hardware resources.

May I ask what is the make and model of your laptop / or do you know the specifications of your desktop?

My apologies about that. May I ask how much space do you have left in your computer? Normally the compression happens automatically if you have less than a certain percent of space left in your drive.

Thank you. This system is Windows 11 Home and I'm surprised at this as the rig is showing hardly any ram used.

The "compressed contents is not checked in any of these folders.

    Thank you.

    Jon

Hello there! I am Charity, I'm an Independent Advisor. I'm glad to help you today!

    Thank you for the information.

The blue double arrow icon on files and folders in Windows 10 indicates that the files or folders are compressed to save disk space. This feature is enabled automatically to help manage storage, especially if your disk is nearing capacity.

To remove these icons, you can follow these steps:

    Disable Compression:

-Right-click the file or folder with the blue arrows and select "Properties."

-In the Properties window, go to the "General" tab and click "Advanced."

-Uncheck "Compress contents to save disk space" and click "OK."

-Apply the changes to this folder, subfolders, and files if prompted.

I would also suggest to try to free up space on your computer.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Kind Regards,

    Charity
