I would like to scan external usb drives using Windows Defender for Windows 11. The instructions for Windows 10 don't apply since defender doesn't appear under settings when selected.

Open "This PC", right-click on the external drive, and click "Show more options".
Select "Scan with Microsoft Defender"
(or)
Open "Windows Security" from the Start menu search.
Click Virus and threat protection.
Click "scan options".
Click "Custom".
Select the drive letter of your external drive and finish the scan.
