How to open a tiff file?

I have a very old image file - but I cannot open it anymore.

I am using Windows 10

I tried to send it to a friend who said they could open a tif file, but it is too large.

Should I just give up?

TIF and TIFF are two names for the same type of file.

On my copy of Windows 10, I open TIF and TIFF files with the Microsoft Photos app.

These files are large because they're not compressed. (By way of comparison, common image formats like JPEG and PNG are compressed.)

Hello there! I am Charity, I'm an Independent Advisor. I'm glad to help you today!

My apologies for the inconvenience that this have caused you.

A TIFF file can be opened through Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, however it's for Windows XP only.

If you have Office 2007 or 2010, then follow the steps:

    1. Open Picture Manager.
    2. Go to Tools -> File types.

Mark the Checkbox for TIFF format ->: Click OK.

You may also right click on the TIFF image -> Open with and select Picture Manager to open and verify the results.

    Kind Regards,

    Charity
