i'm having the problem as well. but mines is the controller will be on like normal, but as I open a game, it will disconnect. if i windows key and go back to the desktop. the controller will come back on, but as i enter the game again, it cuts off..
Why does my controller disconnect when i start a game?
I’ve recently started having this issue where my controller won’t connect wired to my pc unless I have it plugged in to my pc whenever i boot it. If at any point i unplug the controller while on my desktop, it won’t let me reconnect it back. If i leave it connected after starting my pc and launch a game it will also disconnect. I’ve tried using different controllers, usb ports, and different wires. The controller works fine on other pcs. I also downgraded to windows 10 from windows 11 and the problem persists. I also updated my bios . The weird thing is bluetooth works just fine, I thought maybe disabling my bluetooth device in device manager would maybe fix it but that also didn’t work.
I haven’t seen anyone with this problem anywhere and it’s getting frustrating trying to fix it. I’ve thought about buying a new motherboard, but I really don’t want to. I currently have a b650 aorus elite ax if it helps. I’m not sure if it’s a mobo problem but it’s the only reason i can think of.

2024-02-10T11:33:27+00:00 Hello Jaxxxx2,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
The b650 aorus elite is only the motherboard model of your computer, but if you wish to troubleshoot the connection of your controller to your computer, can you include the model of controller you are using here? Because maybe I can find some specific help links depending on the controller model.
I know you've tried different controllers, USB ports, and different data cables. If the controller only supports a USB cable connection, then I think you might want to look at the power Settings of the USB port.
Open Device Manager - Universal Serial Bus Controller, locate all USB devices, and double-click on them. Normally, in the TAB bar you should see "Power Management", after clicking, please uncheck "Allow computer to turn this off to save power" and click OK to save Settings.
If the controller supports Bluetooth, then find the Bluetooth option in the Device Manager, you should be able to see "Intel Wireless Bluetooth", double click it, and confirm the power option.
The above solution may be effective for this problem, but if you would like specific help, please attach your controller model here, or contact your controller's after-sales support directly.
