HP ENVY- All-in-one 32-a10xxx

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400 CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz

RAM 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)

HDD 1 TB

SSD 256 GB

I recently just did a clean install of Windows 11 on my PC. Originally I installed windows onto the HDD and then afterwords realized I should have installed to the SSD. So I performed clean install again. This time I selected the SSD for windows OS. Now I am all done and the HDD is blank and ready for Partition/volumes to be created as it is showing as unallocated space. I am not real experienced in this kind of stuff and it has been fun learning as I go So, I definitely will be appreciative of any help/tips along the way!

My question is how do I properly have this HDD set up to function properly and most efficient in my system?

In the pic below after clicking create volume>create simple volume. I am asked to enter values but I dont know what to input. Previously this drive was Drive letter D: if I remember right. Why does it default to letter E: Am I missing something here? Is letter E: going to end up being a partition of D: and thats why the max value is 953,869?

    Hi Bradley, This is Ramesh.

Your USB flash disk is using the drive letter D. Ejecting it should free up that drive letter, which you can use for your secondary hard drive.

Regarding partitioning, you can create as many partitions on that drive as you want, depending on how you want to organize your files. For instance, you may maintain a separate partition for Music files. Or even a single partition is fine.

    The following guide can help.

    Hi Bradley,

OK, let me know how it goes. As mentioned on that link, you can also use "Disk Management" to create partitions.
