How to Reduce Image File Size (JPG, PNG) Without Changing Dimensions on Windows 10?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a way to resize, specifically reduce the file size of images in JPG and PNG formats, while keeping the same dimensions. For example, I want to convert multiple 5 MB files to 800 KB files on Windows 10.

Are there any built-in applications in Windows that can do this? If not, can someone recommend a privacy-focused app that doesn't require a login?

I'm open to paid options as long as they are reasonably priced and prioritize user privacy.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

To reduce the size of an image file basically means you need to remove pixels from the image, either by reducing the dimensions of the image or reducing the resolution of the image file, both will reduce the clarity of the file.

In Windows, there is no built in app in Windows that can reduce the resolution, only the dimensions of the image file, you could use a 3rd party image app like the free version of IrfanView to reduce the resolution of the image files.
