Hello Robert_12,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.
I am sorry that you are still experiencing issues even after several troubleshooting attempts. It is good to know that you have tried almost all the possible solutions you find on the internet to fix the input (Microphone) issue. Let us dive deep or try some additional troubleshooting steps you haven't tried yet,
- It seems that your Microphone input device is listed as "Realtek (R) Audio", does it say [Stereo Mix (Realtek (R)) audio]?
Note: Stereo Mix is a virtual audio device, it does not handle input audio like a Microphone.
- Do your Speakers work normally?
If Realtek is the generic audio driver, the default input Microphone device would be 'Microphone Array" or 'Realtek (R)'. If it says Realtek (R) without the word stereo, probably the Microphone should be working. However, you could try the methods below to see if it works.
1. Uninstall Realtek (R) drivers:
a. Open Device Manager.
b. Select the arrow next to sound video and game controllers.
c. Right-click your generic audio driver (e.g. Realtek (R)), select Uninstall device, select the Attempt to remove the driver for this device check box, and then select Uninstall.
d. Once uninstalled, restart your PC.
e. Plug in your Microphone on the mic jack and test the audio input through Windows Sound recorder.
- If you are still experiencing issues, Grant administrative privileges -
Note: Remember to disconnect your microphone while running the command lines.
a. Open command prompt as Administrator.
b. Type/paste the command lines one by one and click enter.
net localgroup Administrators /add networkservice
(Click enter) Next,
net localgroup Administrators /add localservice
(Click enter) Next type,
exit
(Click enter) and restart your PC.
c. Now, plug in your microphone and test the audio input.
- If you are still having trouble detecting the input microphone, please do check if you have any latest updates to install. If the PC is already up to date, I recommend you to perform an in-place upgrade method. This will clean up the system, potentially resolving some issues, and update your drivers. To perform an in-place upgrade on your computer, please refer to the guide "How to Perform an In-place Upgrade with Windows 11 Step-by-Step" by 'Lester BernardReyes'
