My PC crashes when playing some online games.

Hi, I have an issue where on certain games, (Escape From Tarkov, Arena Breakout Infinite) my PC will randomly crash with no error message and no blue screen. Sometimes it will run for 20-30 minutes before crashing, sometimes just a few minutes. My crash logs just say "Unexpected Error caused the PC to shut down". I can play other games like Dying Light for hours and nothing ever happens. I have tried resetting my pc to factory and changing probably a thousand settings in windows and in my games and nothing has worked. I built this PC a few weeks ago (all new parts) and it was working great on the first day and then the issue started. I ran benchmarks on the CPU and GPU and it didn't crash, I tested the RAM with the windows diagnostic tool and no issues were found. It never crashes just idling or sitting on discord in a call. All of my drivers are up to date and so is Windows. I only have the bare minimum of programs installed, which is just discord, the games I mentioned, steam, and firefox. No antivirus. I run at low temps when I use MSI Afterburner and low CPU and GPU usage and high FPS. If anyone knows anything that might work, I would greatly appreciate your help.

Hi Welcome to Microsoft community. It sounds like you're experiencing frustrating crashes while playing specific games, despite your system performing well in benchmarks and other tasks. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Check Power Supply:
      • Ensure that your PSU is providing enough power, especially under load. The Corsair RM750e should be sufficient, but you might want to check if it’s functioning properly. Use a power supply tester or try another PSU if possible.
    2. Game Settings:
      • Try lowering the graphics settings in the problematic games. Sometimes, specific settings (like Ray Tracing or high textures) can cause instability.
    3. DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributables:
      • Ensure that you have the latest DirectX version installed. Also, update or reinstall Visual C++ Redistributables, as some games rely on them.
    4. Check for Background Applications:
      • Even if you have minimal programs installed, check for any background applications or overlays (like Discord overlay) that might conflict with the games. Try disabling them.
    5. Run as Administrator:
      • Right-click on the game executable and choose Run as Administrator. Sometimes, permissions can cause issues.
    6. Disable Overclocking:
      • If you have any overclocking settings applied (CPU, RAM, or GPU), revert them to default. Instability can occur if components are pushed beyond their limits.
    7. Update Motherboard BIOS:
      • Check if there’s a BIOS update for your MSI PRO B650-S. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues or bugs.
      • Disclaimer: Microsoft provides no assurances and/or warranties, implied or otherwise, and  is not responsible for the information you receive from the third-party  linked sites or any support related to technology.   If you are going to modify BIOS Settings, please  back up all your personal files first to ensure you do not lose data.
    8. Check for Faulty Components:
      • If possible, test individual components (like RAM and GPU) in another system to rule out hardware issues.
    9. Reinstall Problematic Games:
      • Sometimes, game files can become corrupted. Try reinstalling the games that are crashing.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, consider reaching out to the game’s support forums or communities, as they might have specific fixes for the titles you're struggling with.Let me know if you need further assistance.Best regardsDerrick Qian | Microsoft Community Support Specialist

Hi, thanks for the detailed information, as per checking and analyzing the event files you have, there are general errors on the event files, moreover kindly follow the steps below for us to fix the issue:

We need to run a Clean installation of the AMD driver, this is different from doing DDU or updating the driver as this will remove all entries and replace them with compatible ones, kindly follow the steps from the link below:

Step 1. Completely uninstall the AMD GPU Driver using the steps from this link:

    https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articl...

Step 2. Reinstall the AMD Graphics driver using the steps from the link below:

Install AMD Radeon and automatically detect the AMD driver:

Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

    Method 2. Do clean boot:

A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
    • On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
    • Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.
    • Close Task Manager.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.

Note: If the issue persists, we will run a system repair on the affected device.
