Non-Complient for Windows 11

Microsoft says my computer is non Complient for Windows 11. There was no reason given.

My computer is a Dell Inspiron 3647

Processor: Intel(R)Core (TM) i3-4150CPU@3.50GHz

Installed RAM: 8.00GB

Hard Drive: 1TB 7200rpm SATA 6GB/s

Edition of Windows: 10 Home installed 2020

Short of having to purchase a new computer is there a way to determine why my computer is non complainant & how can I make it compliant? (Also is it too early to install Windows 11 if my computer was Complient)?

it's NOT about cores, or speed, or performance or anything like that.

it's all about an internal issue with the processor architecture for pre 8th gen processors...

In 2018 CPUs were affected by a serious design flaws that enabled the Spectre and Meltdown side-channel attacks. Microsoft had to release patches for Windows that slowed down PCs with older CPUs. This let Windows work around the security problems in these CPUs.

CPU manufacturers would have to rearchitect their older CPU designs to truly patch these security weaknesses. (and you know they won't)

Intel stated that Spectre and Meltdown were addressed with hardware level changes starting with Intel 8th-generation CPUs.

Isn’t it interesting that Windows 11 requires 8th-generation CPUs or newer? I would guess this is totally related. Of course, Microsoft isn’t screaming from the rooftops that PCs with older CPUs are fundamentally insecure at a hardware level compared to new devices. That wouldn’t be good for business. But it seems like Microsoft wants to quietly move everyone to new hardware so Microsoft knows it only has to support Windows 11 on CPUs with these security fixes.

    Hi Prentess,

My name is Estrella, and I'm an Independent Advisor. I'm sorry to hear that you're having this trouble. I'll be more than happy to help.

Windows 11 processor requirements start with 8th-generation Intel processors and newer, as well as newer AMD Ryzen series. Please check this list: https://learn.microsoft.com/windows-hardware/de...

To help you determine whether your device supports Windows 11, you can try running the PC Health Check tool: https://aka.ms/GetPCHealthCheckApp

Find Windows 11 specs, features, and computer requirements: https://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-11-sp...

If you do not meet any of these requirements, it’s best to connect with your PC manufacturer’s support for the best advice on hardware upgrades to meet Windows 11 requirements.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reply to this message.

So, Independent Advisors must like to reenter the same information with lots of links or information.

The link I provided from Dell because she has a Dell computer provides a link to a list of Dell computers that have been tested and approved for use with Windows 11.

The link also provides a link for the Health Check app.

My paragraph I pasted gives the information on what CPUs are required.

FYI: My three computers are Dell. A desktop and laptop with Windows 11 Pro and a laptop that did not meet the requirements for use of Windows 11. It has Windows 10 Pro. I also have a Dell desktop sitting in my closet because it did not meet the requirements for Windows 11, so I bought a new desktop, the one noted above.

Dell computers tested for update to Windows 11 | Dell US

The processor requirement is the most restrictive; supported processors include 8th-generation and newer Intel Core processors as well as AMD Ryzen 2000-series processors and newer. These are all chips that launched in late 2017 and early 2018. Older computers can't officially run Windows 11.
