Instead of using /Online param in the command, use /image:C:\ and the rest of the command will remain same, it should fix the problem

Hi, I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

The error 87 is shown when there is a typo on the command or when you are trying to select an option that doesn't exist.

If you trying to check and repair the health of your Windows image, you need to use the commands ScanHealth, CheckHealth, and RestoreHealth.

1-Right-Click on Start then click on Windows Powershell (admin)

    2- Type these commands.

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth (and press Enter)

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth (and press Enter)

3- The DISM tool will report whether the image is healthy, repairable, or non-repairable. If the image is repairable, you can use the /RestoreHealth argument to repair the image.

4-Type this command and press Enter:

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be glad to assist you further.

None of these commands works. On all three, I am getting the same message

    Error 87:

    The cleanup-image option is unknown

For more information, refer to the help by running DISM.exe /?

The DISM log file can be found at X:\windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

I'm having the exact same issue after I had my computer freeze.

I had recently tried to format a laptop and vme drive that I installed and deleted the recovery partition off of that but I left my original installed drive untouched.

I was just using it fine it froze and then I had been getting a repair loop saying it can't repair the windows I can't use any of the other advanced options I can't reset with files, nothing.

So System Restore was not helpful during scan for effected programs there was an unexpected error cannot find the path specified (0x8007003)

Update: I attempted another restore and I'm getting a issue in the source of app repository

An unspecified error occurred during system restore 0x800701b1)

Something I noted during the repair process is that most of my drive path letters have changed and my C: drive is showing up as my hard drive which was pathed as drive M:

The log file is going to I:\recovery\windowsRE\winre.wim\system 32\logfiles\Srt\SRtTrial.txt

Update: while sitting in the troubleshooting screen the computer shut off on me completely random power out

I've also noticed every time I select anything the computer lets out an audible digital tone from within the case.
