Problem with New WiFi USB Adapter for Windows 11

Good day,

I have 2 PCs running Windows 11 (a Dell mini Optiplex and an ASUS All-in-One) and purchased 2 identical Wireless USB plus Bluetooth 5.0 Adapters from Amazon.

They don't show their brand or have any other identifiers or manufacturer contact information. Herewith photographs of the front and back of one of the boxes and one of the devices:

The drivers came on a mini CD but, as neither PC has a CD Drive, I downloaded them from the Dropbox link as shown on this section of the instructions that came with the devices:

The Device connects with and works perfectly with the Dell but ASUS doesn't even seem to "see" the WiFi Adapter. However, the PC beeps when the device plugs in and the Bluetooth works perfectly.

These are Device Manager screenprints of the 2 PCs with the device connected and not connected:

I have tried installing the Realtek 8822BU Wireless LAN 802.11ac USB NIC driver more times than I care to remember . . . but to no avail.

As a novice trying to use logic, I wonder if the problem may not be the driver but the fact that the PC doesn't even seem to see the WiFi device?

For more than 3 weeks, I have e-mailed every RealTech Customer Services link on this US page https://www.realtek.com/Article/Index?menu_id=850 Realtek and their General Enquiries on this link https://www.realtek.com/Sales/GeneralQuestionForm?menu_id=855&lang=en-GB but haven't even received an acknowledgement.

In the meantime, I have had to continue to use a very old Belkin USB WiFi Adapter that has a very limited capacity . . . but at least it works.

However, I would be most grateful to receive help/guidance as to a possible solution.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Ivan (and/or anyone else who may have been following this thread).

I really do appreciate your efforts to date on my behalf . . . unfortunately, I am no further forward.

As I have not heard anything for almost 2 weeks I am assuming that you may not have any further ideas . . . but could I trouble you to confirm?

If so, I would be most appreciative of any ideas of other places where I may seek a solution?

    Many thanks in advance.

    John

P.S. The more I think about it, I am leaning towards the possibility that the problem stems from when I upgraded to Windows 11 . . . when, for some unknown reason, the "Plug and Play" function changed such that it won't now recognise the WiFi part of the new adapter . . . However, even that is strange because everything else connects perfectly, including the Bluetooth part of the same physical adapter and very old (10+ years) Belkin adapter which has been unused for years.

    Good evening, Ivan,

Many thanks for offering to help.

I am home at the moment and the ASUS is in my office . . . so will copy its Device Manager USB devices tomorrow and revert.

Meanwhile, to ensure that I understand you correctly, herewith those from the Dell:

Didn't know before about "Show hidden devices" . . . so, simply to confirm: the 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th entries (in lighter grey) were those that were hidden.

Have a super evening, if it is, of course, evening for you.

    Till tomorrow.

    Hi ,

Try resetting the USB settings and uninstalling the Intel(R) 6 series device manager. When you uninstall it, if your mouse and keyboard are USB, they will probably stop working. You will restart the computer directly from the case and remove and replace the USB adapter.

I will be here waiting for your response, whenever you need me, I am here.

    Good morning Ivan,

Herewith the screenprint of the USB devices on the ASUS with the device plugged in and not plugged in:

Incredibly, there were 11 items hidden, 7 of which say "failed" and the lists are the same whether the device is plugged in or not.

To me, at least, this seems to confirm that the WiFi part of the device is not being seen/recognised (although I confirm that the Bluetooth part is).

Also, could it be that the device is not actually the problem? Although, as I said yesterday, I'm a novice in this and didn't even know that there were hidden devices and that they could be "unhidden".

Hopefully, the "failed" items tell you something and help point you to a solution.

Again, kind regards and many thanks in advance.

    John
