All My Blu-ray, DVD, CD roms (3) drivers stopped working. This happened with the latest Windows 11 (08-14-2024). How do I fix it?

I'm getting this error messages on all three Blu-Ray, DVD and CD rom drivers:

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Object Name not found.

The Blu-ray and DVD roms are USB 3.0 connected. The DVD/CD rom is an internal drive in my DEll Computer. Tall three stopped working with the latest windows 11 (08-14-2024) updates. How do if fix this? I've tried uninstalling all three devices and reboot my computer. All three come back but still have the same problem. I've tried to roll back the update, but windows won't let me. The Roll Back feature is greyed out. What do I do? Does Microsoft know there is a problem with the latest update. If so is there a date when it will be fixed?

Thanks.

Paul Millen

Well That fixed all my drives! I followed the instructions and found a LowerFilters file. I deleted that file and restarted my computer and it came up with no errors. I then tried playing a blu-ray disc and it played with no problems. GREAT! Thanks for all your help!

Please try Method 2 described at https://techcult.com/fix-cd-or-dvd-drive-error-code-39/

You may try to ask Microsoft for a personal fix, but it will cost millions of dollars in a case of success.

Note, before fixing it is needed to diagnose problem or at least make some typical steps in attempt to repair the problem.

Press Win+R keys, type CMD, and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to run command prompt as administrator. In black window type

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

command, press Enter, wait a minute or so, and show a screenshot or a photo of the result. Check if your problem is solved.

    Howdy do,

Thanks for responding to my question. The problem is I have no idea what you are talking about. I'm a computer novice and have a very limited knowledge on how to do system type stuff on my P.C. Do you have a step by step procedure to fix my drives? Or better yet is Microsoft going to send out another update to fix this mess?

    Thanks again.
