Every time I try to boot up "edit.com", Windows keeps saying that it's not compatible on my PC even though it works on older Windows NT operating systems like Windows Vista.

Thank you for reaching out! As an Independent Advisor and fellow Microsoft user, I'm happy to assist you.

Please let me know if you have tried the methods below:

    1. Use Compatibility Mode:
      • Right-click on edit.com.
      • Select Properties.
      • Go to the Compatibility tab.
      • Check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and choose Windows Vista.
      • Click Apply and OK.
    2. Troubleshoot Compatibility:
      • Right-click on edit.com.
      • Select Troubleshoot compatibility and follow the prompts.
    3. Use a Virtual Machine:
      • Install a program like VirtualBox.
      • Set up a virtual machine with an older Windows version (like Windows Vista).
      • Run edit.com inside the virtual machine.

These steps should help you run "edit.com" on your PC!

Use 86box,PCem or DOSbox (note that for the first 2 you need an actual copy of MS-DOS)

Windows 10 32 bit can run 16 bit DOS apps. Otherwise use DOSBox or other virtual machine software.

That clearly doesn't work, it still shows "This app can't run on your PC"

Also, it CAN run the app.

On 64 bit Windows, you'll need to use DOSBox or similar software.

Of course, there are plenty of modern alternatives to edit.com that will run directly in Windows 11.
