I too came on this forum because I don't want it cluttering my workspace or interrupting me, Then I had a look myself. there was no co-pilot in the task bar, I may have removed it some time ago but it still comes up in documents, it is of no use to me in writing, it is too American and doesn't seem to understand slang speech in fiction.

I just discovered it can be uninstalled by left clicking the start button find it in the list of applications and right click it then left click uninstall.

I am hoping it doesn't come back.

Like most other users I find it irritating that Microsoft keep making their operating system more and more complicated and loading it with unwanted features. The sooner I can find an operating system that doesn't come with bloat I shall change to it,

    Melancholy Rose,

wish I had seen your comment before I accidentally found almost exact same thing myself, only I used the settings in windows / apps/ apps & features /selected copilot from scrolling down and uninstalled from there.

I won't be messing with the registry for this, especially since I'll likely be forced onto Win11 sometime in the near future (even though it ticks me off that the best features have been removed), but I have Copilot toggled off and it still shows up. Seems MS is intent on beating us over the head with this stupid ****!

I never expected someone to actually reply to me, but I was hoping that it actually disabled it but thank you for replying to me saying that it doesn't disable it it just removes it off the taskbar.

That didn't work for me. I had to remove it in the registry. It still on my machine & accessible, but doesn't interfere with my writing.
