How do I keep my mouse from leaving the window on FPS games?

So, when I'm playing any FPS games (or games that use the mouse to track the game environment), my mouse cursor goes invisible. However, instead of being locked to the center of the screen, it moves around freely, to the point where i have accidently minimized or closed out of my game. Also worth mentioning, this is on a laptop, not a multiple screen PC.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated, as I've exhausted my sources of research and none of them helped.

    Hello JB,

Let's try using the "Dual Monitor Tool". Download it through their website: https://sourceforge.net/projects/dualmonitortoo...

    1. Once downloaded, run the installer.
    2. Click "Next".
    3. Check the "I accept the terms in the License Agreement" box and click "Next".
    4. In the "Custom Setup" step, expand "DMT".
    5. Click both "Wallpaper Creator" and "Screen Saver".
    6. For both, select "Entire feature will be unavailable".
    7. Click "Next" and then "Install".
    8. Click "Finish" when the installation is complete.
    9. Find the Dual Monitor Tool icon in your system tray, located on the right side of the taskbar. Double-click it.
    10. In the application window, under the 'Cursor' section, select "Sticky".
    11. Click the 'change' button next to "Lock cursor onto the screen".
    12. Check the "Enable this Hotkey" box.
    13. Select your preferred key combination.
    14. Click "OK". Click the "Close" button.
    15. Press the shortcut key you just set.

See if the mouse cursor remains confined to the window. Let me know if you have any other questions or need further assistance with this.

I was having the same problem and found another topic from 2021 with a solution that actually solved the issue:

    1. Press Win + R.
    2. Enter the command gpedit.msc and press enter.
    3. On the file to the left, search for Computer configuration ->Administrative models -> Windows components ->UI borders/edge
    4. Select the option "Allow to swipe finger on the edge" and open the edit box.
    5. Set it to "Disabled" and apply.

At least for me, it is now working perfectly.

Please note that I translated from Portuguese so the options might have a slightly different nomenclature.

Hello JB, I'm Quinn, and I'm happy to help you.

Ensure that the game is running in full-screen mode rather than windowed or borderless windowed mode. Full-screen mode can help keep the cursor locked within the game.

If that doesn't work, please list the things you've already tried so I can avoid suggesting things you have already tried.

Unfortunately, this did not solve the issue.

    Hi Quinn,

Fullscreen mode doesn't fix the issue, all it does is "unhide" the hidden window parts of the screen. The following is what I have tried already:

    • Uninstalling and reinstalling mouse drivers
    • My friend helped me check the "EnableLUA" value in the registry editor and he said it was fine.

Nothing outside of that has been messed with or changed because my friend had to leave due to prior commitments.
